Don Harry Halstead

	Don Harry Halstead, 83, of DuQuoin, passed away at 12:15 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2001 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin.
	Don was a retired carpenter and had worked for Dale Williams Construction.  He had also worked at Turco Mfg. in DuQuoin.  Don was a member of the First United Methodist Church of DuQuoin and was a former trustee.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received in combat.
	Don was born May 18, 1918 at Hallidayboro, the son of George and Maude (Manis) Halstead.  He married Pauline Dempsey on August 26, 1946 at Pinckneyville and she survives.
	He is survived by his wife of DuQuoin; son, Mark Halstead of DuQuoin; granddaughter, Summer Halstead of Arlington Heights and grandson, Blake Halstead of DuQuoin.
	He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Diana Lynn Halstead; brothers, Thomas Halstead, Clyde Halstead, Paul Halstead and John Halstead and sisters, Opal Hill, Vernice Appino, Margie Harsy and Mabel Halstead.
	Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 13, 2001 at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin with Rev. Carl Mesiti officiating.  
	Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin.
	Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery at DuQuoin.
	Friends may make memorials to the First United Methodist Church of DuQuoin.
	Military graveside rites were conducted by the DuQuoin VFW.
